An official ceremony dedicated on the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Mongolia was held on 27 May in the Mongolian Embassy in Sofia. Four Bulgarians were awarded for their contribution to the development of the Bulgarian-Mongolian relations.
The highest award of the country - the Order "Polar Star" was received by prof. Alexander Fedotov, director of the Center for Eastern Languages and Culture at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ". His Excellency Mr. Lhamsuren Dugerjav, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia in Bulgaria personally read the decree of the Mongolian president Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj and awarded the decoration to the great scientist.
Prof. Fedotov, is doctor of the philological sciences, professor of Korean, Mongolian and Tibetan literature at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ", polyglot. Graduated from the Faculty of Eastern languages and cultures in St. Petersburg State University, he specializes and delivers lectures in the Republic of Korea, China, Mongolia, India, Thailand, Hungary, Romania and Russia. He is a member of the world associations for Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan and Altaic Studies. He says the first country in the East, which he visited as a student, was Mongolia. His entire student group later went to specialize for one year in Ulan Bator State University. Mongolian was the first language he began teaching at Sofia University. At the ceremony, he admitted that he was glad that in our country there are friends of Mongolia who work for the development of the Bulgarian-Mongolian relations, and show with their work, that they love this country and its people and do everything possible Bulgarians to learn more about it.
A high Mongolian award - Order "Druzhba", received Mr. Angel Orbetsov - Director of "Asia, Australia and Oceania" department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs while medals "800th Anniversary of the Great Mongolian State" were awarded to prof. doctor Svetla Karteva from "St. Kliment Ohridski" and Mr. Peter Yachev - Secretary of the Embassy of Mongolia.
