LEVSKI will never and cannot be forgotten!
LEVSKI is part of the confidence of every Bulgarian!
LEVSKI continues to excite young Bulgarian artists, despite the fact that some of them live away from home!
The wide panorama of artistic images of the Apostle presents different generations of Bulgarian artists. The oldest of them - Marin Georgiev Ustagenov was born back in 1872 in Rousse, and the youngest - Lazar Mitev was born in 1996 in Plovdiv. The exhibition includes paintings, graphic and sculptural portraits and multi-figure compositions. Special attention is paid to the theme "Scenes of popular life." This section includes little known and not shown until now works from the collection of the National Gallery. In the documentary part are included unique materials and photographs of the Apostle and his companions.
The focus of the exhibition is the portrait of the academician Dechko Uzunov "Necklace of immortality" (1973). Among the authors, the name of Marin Georgiev Ustagenov stands out; he devoted much of his work on the time before the liberation and the image of Vasil Levski. His paintings "Creation of a Secret Revolutionary Committee in Sofia" is the first of its kind in Bulgarian art and is displayed for the first time to viewers. A kind of counterpoint to the old masters-painters is the work of contemporary artists - professor at the National Academy Plamen Valchev; Rossen Raychev who lives in the US; and the known to connoisseurs of painting in the European cultural backgrounds Vasil Goranov.
The exhibition is lively through the art of theatre by the miniature of the director Asen Shopov "The Interrogation of Vasil Levski before the Extraordinary Investigation Commission in Sofia", starring actors: Veselin Plachkov (as Levski) Vasil Mihaylov, Boris Lukanov, Bogdan Glishev and Ivan Nestorov. Visitors of the exhibition can see the play on certain dates in February.
Sponsors of the exhibition and its catalogue are the "Vasilevi Brothers."
