From the 10th until the 13th of December 2015, the “House of Cinema” in Sofia and cinema "Odeon" hosted a true celebration of Italian cinema; a wonderful Christmas gift from the Italian Cultural Institute for the lovers of the seventh art in the capital.

The submitted films – new ones, created between 2012 and 2014, as a dynamic world in which we live, lyrical or humorous, full of love and beauty from our time, certainly pleased the audience. Probably because despite our confused modernity, they are filled with optimism.

The selection of films was not only nice in content but was also of high quality. The love drama "Every Blessed Day"/TUTTI I SANTI GIORNI director Paolo Virzi, telling the story of a young couple that dreams of a child, has two nominations for the prize "Silver Ribbon" Nastro d'argento and three for "David of Donatello" /Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Original Song/.

The comedy by Carlo Mazzacurati - "The Chair of Happiness"/LA SEDIA DELLA FELICITA is a tale of a modern Cinderella /the heroine is a simple beautician/, but, besides being hardworking she is bold and imaginative, heading up. She is looking for a hidden treasure ... and on the path to it she will meet love. The film was awarded the "Silver Ribbon" in 2014 and has six nominations for "David of Donatello".

The comedy "Good Morning  Dad"/BUONGIORNO PAPA by director Edoardo Leo, in the story of a beautiful 40-year-old free man dedicated to his career and fleeting affairs, who is confronted with the surprising fact that he has 17-year-old daughter. "Good Morning Dad" makes us laugh and think about our ability to take responsibility. And we think we can do it despite everything and everyone.

That is what we can see in the drama "Our Land"/LA NOSTRA TERRA of Giulio Manfredonia, but in the center of it are the strange characters from a small agricultural cooperative that need to overcome many obstacles.

The drama "Perez"*PEREZ seemed to be liked the most by the audience. It is not a coincidence that it won the "Golden Globe" prize in 2015 for Best Actor - Luke Zingaretti. In it the director Edoardo De Angelis reveals the drama of Demetrio Perez’s soul - a lawyer who defends life hardened criminals who have lost everything. At one point he gets involved in one story because of his daughter, who is in love with a dangerous gangster. His love for her will make him change his and her life.

"Stay Away from Me"/STAI LONTANA DA ME (2013) is a comedy by Alessio Maria Federici, in which the director with astonishing ease and wonderful sense of humor shows us how many of us, are afraid of love. The good thing is that, despite our insistence, love eventually wins and ... life goes on.
