On the 9th of March, in the lately popular literary club in the National Palace of Culture was presented a book by Ryszard Kapuściński containing three of his works:

"Self-portrait of the Reporter," "Sweeping Course of History”, “Notes on XX and XXI Century" and "The Other". The event was organized by the Polish Institute in Sofia and publishing house SONM.

Presenter was Marin Bodakov, from the "Literature" section of the "Culture" newspaper. The book was presented by Prof. Dr. Minka Zlateva - its editor and author of the preface, professor at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication at Sofia University. Opinions and impressions were also expressed by the interpreter Blagovesta Lingorska and the journalist from the Bulgarian National Television Boyko Vasilev.

Ryszard Kapuściński was born in 1932 in the city Pinsk /Belarus today/. He died in 2007 in Warsaw. His life is a series of interesting events that make him a legend. Traveler to the soul, a historian by training, journalist by vocation - he is called "The King of the Reportage". Since 1962, Kapuściński is a permanent correspondent for the Polish Press Agency in Africa, Latin America and Asia. He used to make reports from India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Japan, relocating to the Caucasus and many other places. The period spent in Africa, is home to the beginning of his reporter career. He spends five years in Chile, Brazil, Mexico and Bolivia, later he travels to Angola, Iran and Ethiopia. He is the most prominent writer among Polish reporters, publicist, poet and photographer.

Author of 26 books, Kapuściński is the most often translated Polish author along with Stanislaw Lem. He would not wait to see his Nobel Prize for literature, but for all Poles, and for many people around the world, he is a brilliant essayist, one of the greatest journalists of the 20th century.

Bulgaria has issued his books: "Shah of Shahs", "The Empiror", "Lapidaria", "The Soccer War", "Another Day of Life," "Ebony", "Travels with Herodotus". The translation was done by Blagovesta Lingorska.

As Ryszard Kapuściński cannot be told, he just has to be read.
