On March 23, 2015 Korea and Bulgaria will mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During these twenty five years the cooperation and friendship between the two countries have strengthened in various aspects. The bilateral political dialogue, economic ties, cultural awareness as well as academic and social exchanges have been steadily developing.
To further deepen these bilateral ties and to celebrate this anniversary the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sofia has organized various events:
First of all there was a special concert followed by a reception on the 18th of March. At this invitation-based event on the occasion of the 25th anniversary the renowned Novus String Quartet, the only Asian chamber ensemble awarded the First Prize at the International Mozart Competition, Salzburg 2014, will perform. Among the most imminent events was the inauguration of the “Korea Corner” in Sofia City Library, 1, Pencho Slaveikov sq. on 19th March at 11.00 a.m. This space of knowledge and discovery will increase Bulgarian people’s cognizance of Korea and will encourage adventure seekers to visit Korea. For all crafts and arts lovers, there will be the splendid exhibition “Secrets of Korean Crafts” which was opened on March 25th, at 18.30 h, at Shipka 6 Gallery. It features some of the best samples of Korean furniture, pottery, folding screens, paintings on silk and other artifacts, etc. The public will be able to see 140 craft works from 23 Korean crafts masters, 12 of whom will be visiting Bulgaria. As a side-event of this exhibition these Korean masters also held a workshop open to the public on the 27th of March, 18:30-20:00h, at “Shipka 6” Gallery.
In addition, the visiting Korean craft masters had a gathering and demonstration together with Bulgarian craft masters on 27th March. This event, co-organized with the Bulgarian National Craft Chamber was held at the Central Foyer of the National Palace of Culture from 10.30 to 13.30h.
