The exhibition "Bulgarian literature in Serbia during the 21st Century" was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia and the Association of the Writers of Sofia. Its opening was on the 2nd of March at the Serbian Embassy in the presence of authors, publishers and journalists from both sides.

The posters in the exhibitiontrackedthe issued,during recent years in Serbia, over 20 books by contemporary Bulgarian authors, issued recently in Serbia and by Prof. Dr. Branko Ristic.

The event had its logical culmination. The Association of Writers of Sofia handed the famous Serbian poet and translator an award for his contribution to the Bulgarian culture. Zahari Ivanov, chairman of the association on the eve of the 3rd of March said that in a moment when Europe has "tension, death, abuse, intrigue, misfortunes" people gathered in the Serbian Embassy ​​to talk about "friendship, culture, literature". Prof. Dr. Branko Ristic accepted the award with gratitude.

The highest award is fully deserved. Born in 1961 in the village Great Shilegovac /Krusevac/, Branko Ristic graduated with the degree of Philology at Skopje University, then he did his postgraduate studies in Sofia. He defended his PhD in Bulgarian literature, in Novi Sad. He is currently a professor at Prishtina University /Kosovska Mitrovica/.

Besides writing poetry and prose, Branko Ristic occupies himself with research and translation from Bulgarian, Russian and Macedonian. On the posters of the exhibition the covers of books by Bulgarian authors, translated by him could be seen: starting from Chudomir, passing through Lubomir Levchev, to Mihail Belchev, Zahari Ivanov, Grisha Trifonov, Hristo Slavov, Sibila Aleksova, Maya Dalgacheva and others.

And those attending the event were delighted to leave with his collection of poems "Slashed Flame", published by the publishing house "Svetovete", translated by Levena Filcheva.
