On 30 July 2026, as part of the solemn celebration of Throne Day, H.E. Ms. Zakia El Midaoui,

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Bulgaria and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Bulgaria, was awarded the title of “Honorary Academician” of the International Academy of United Bulgarians.

By Decision of the Academic Council, Protocol No. 25 of 25 July 2026, she was conferred this title "for her outstanding merits to Bulgarian culture, for her longstanding personal contribution, dedication and inspiration in organizing significant joint cultural events over the years, as well as for strengthening the spiritual bridge of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect between our peoples."

In front of hundreds of guests gathered at Aula Maxima of the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) on the occasion of the national holiday of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Chairman of the International Academy of United Bulgarians, Academician Prof. Dr. Nikolay Nikov, presented her with the diploma, saying:

It is an exceptional honour for me, on behalf of the International Academy of United Bulgarians, to stand before you on this sacred day for the Kingdom of Morocco – Throne Day.

Today, we celebrate not only the national holiday of a great and friendly country. Today, we also celebrate the power of culture that brings our peoples together.

Over the past years, we have witnessed extraordinary energy, dedication and inspiration embodied by Her Excellency Ms. Zakia El Midaoui.

As Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, she has accomplished something truly remarkable – she has transformed diplomacy into a living and shared spiritual bridge. She has devoted her heart to Bulgarian culture and has touched our hearts with the beauty of Moroccan art.

As a sign of our deep appreciation for her personal contribution and for our successful partnership over many years, our academic and civic community has unanimously taken a decision.

It is my great honour to present to Her Excellency Ms. Zakia El Midaoui the honorary academic title of "Honorary Academician."

Your Excellency, please accept this diploma as a symbol of our lasting gratitude, respect and affection.

May you be blessed with good health, and may the friendship between Bulgaria and Morocco endure!

The ceremony was followed by enthusiastic applause and flowers.
