On 14^th of August 1947 Pakistan become an independent nation. Nowadays on 14^th of August Pakistani nation celebrates its Independence Day. On the date of 23^rd of March they celebrate their National Day.

This year the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Bulgaria – H. E. Mr. A. S. Babar Hashmi gave a reception at the Sofia Hotel Balkan on 15^th of September. In his welcoming message to the guests, he noted that "Bulgaria and Pakistan have much in common - both countries are heirs to ancient cultures, they are located in strategic crossroadsin their respective regions and even there are words with the same meaning in Bulgarian and in Urdu languages. In addition to the historical ties and traditional friendship, Bulgaria and Pakistan maintain economic ties and cooperation, trade agreements and cultural exchanges that strengthen their relations continuously(...) ".

The reception was attended by many guests – ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, members of the parliament, businessmen and friends of Pakistan, and they had the rare opportunity to enjoy the traditional Pakistani cuisine.
