The official celebration of the anniversary was on September 23 at Marinela Hotel, Sofia. There H. E. Mr. Zhang Haizhou, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Republic of Bulgaria,

and his wife gave a reception dedicated on October 1 - the Day of the proclamation of People's Republic of China /1949/. It was attended by ambassadors, diplomats, friends of China and representatives of the Chinese diaspora in our country.

In his address to the guests H.E. Mr. Zhang Haizhou said: „67 years ago, a New China was born. With it, the development of Chinese history opened a new page.“ The ambassador stressed that for these 67 years millions of Chinese were saved from poverty and China, from a underdeveloped agricultural country before World War II, reached state and economic might and now is on the path of peaceful development, solving its problems alone. „China sticks to the policy of openness in its relations with all countries on the basis of equality and mutual interest. The economic achievements of China build not only the welfare of the Chinese people, but are also a driving force for the development of the world economy.“ H. E. Mr. Zhang Haizhou pointed at the number of China's contributions to the world economic growth, mentioned the proposals of the President of the PRC Xi Jinping at the G20 summit and other issues. Finally, he reminded of the good friendly relations between our countries and the fact that Bulgaria is among the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China and to establish diplomatic relations with it.
