On the occasion of the National Day of Algeria, Her Excellency Mrs Latifa Benazza Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria gave a reception on the 2nd of November in Sofia Hotel Balkan.

It was attended by ambassadors, politicians, representatives of state administration, cultural figures and friends.

The date of the national holiday of Algeria - November 1, is linked to the Revolution in 1954. That is why in her address to the guests at the reception, H.E. Mrs. Latifa Benazza emphasized the importance of the struggle of the Algerian people against the colonial rule by stating: „After gaining their freedom with courage, that amazed the world, the Algerian people undertook another struggle – for real democracy, for the rule of law and democratic freedoms in an Algeria, where all people can live peacefully as brothers, firmly attached to their civilizational values and open to the world.“  In her speech, Her Excellency particularly focused the attention on the support that the Algerian people then received from the Bulgarian „ally of Algeria's struggle for independence.“
